Battle of Aspenta

For years after Maria Talangrania sailed west across the Great Sea, the scattered human nations on Aspenta caused more trouble than expected. They clashed with both the dwarves and the elves because there was a large demand for both the magical gems that were offered to the humans and for the knowledge contained within them. The humans understood that it would take them millennia to study them and knew that both the dwarves and the elves already knew more about them than the humans could learn in a single lifetime. This caused unrest and trouble among the different races. The most affected race was the halfling race, which had accepted the humans but declined that they had any knowledge concerning the magical gems.

The First War was started because of the different human nations. The rulers of the different nations craved more power and since other nations declined, war erupted for the domination of Aspenta. Human nations sent armies against each other, hoping to gain more land, and especially more magical gems. King grew old, but he still had a lot of support, probably more than any other human nation. He assembled the different villages in his realm and prepared to defend his land. He had lost the two people he loved most in the world and thus saw no point in gaining more power through conquest. It wasn’t long before human armies attacked the kingdom of Aspenta. King held his ground and the other human nations failed.

Western nations crumbled as their forces were diminished by their constant attacks against the kingdom of Aspenta. Soon, the eastern kingdoms invaded the western lands and besieged the angelic city of Aspenta along the western coast. They still could not breach through King’s forces and thus sought aid from the dwarves of Berun and the elves of Aiania. As they declined to help destroy a human kingdom, which had never posed any threat, and only traded valuable knowledge, the eastern kingdoms turned on them. Humans fought dwarves in the mountains of Berun and elves in the forests of Aiania. They fought on three different fronts. Their largest advantage was the fact that they were the only attackers, and that they didn’t need to defend their lands since Aspenta, Berun, and Aiania never attacked them. None of the eastern kingdoms needed to defend themselves since they had committed an alliance between themselves to destroy the other races and Aspenta before they fought each other. They called this alliance for the Eastern Kingdoms.

Right before the Eastern Kingdoms destroyed themselves, by betraying each other and continuously attacking Aiania, Aspenta, and Berun, they threatened the halflings. The leaders of the human countries met with the leading halfling, Asion Greenflower. They gave him an ultimatum. Either the halflings willingly helped the Eastern Kingdoms invade the three other countries they were fighting, or they would be destroyed by the Eastern Kingdoms. Asion agreed to assist the Eastern Kingdoms, thus giving them a bit more power and time before their doom.
